The Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) is one of the largest research centers in Greece with well-organized facilities, highly qualified personnel and a reputation as a top-level research institution worldwide. FORTH conducts specialized scientific research in strategic high-added-value sectors, focusing on interdisciplinary research and development (R&D) activities in areas of major scientific, societal and economic interest, such as Lasers and Photonics, Microelectronics, Advanced Materials/Nanotechnology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Precision Medicine, Systems Biology, Robotics, Telecommunications, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Chemical Engineering Sciences, Energy, Environment, Human and Social Sciences, Astrophysics and Astronomy.
FORTH was founded in 1983 with the vision of creating and maintaining an environment conducive to Learning, Research and Innovation, as pillars of Regional, National and European socio-economic development and progress. It is supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religions.
FORTH comprises 8 Research Institutes. The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) is one of the eight research institutes of FORTH. FORTH-ICS plays a leading role in the development of the Information Society at a national and international level by conducting basic and applied research in the wider field of Informatics and Computer Engineering. Its main features are the research excellence, the interdisciplinary approach and the continuous effort to transfer the research results and the technologies it develops in the industry and the wider society.
ICS-FORTH is organized in laboratories active in the following sectors: Telecommunications and Networks, Signal Processing, Computational Medicine, Bioinformatics, Computer Vision and Robotics, Computer Architecture and VLSI Systems, Distributed Computing Systems and Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Universal Access and Assistive Technologies.
PRAXI Network is an established technology transfer organization with long-standing experience in assisting SMEs and research organisations throughout Greece to achieve cross-border technological cooperation. It is a distinct administrative unit operating within the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), the most active research organisation of Greece. It started out in 1991 as a partnership between FORTH and SEV Hellenic Federation of Enterprises with the mission to link industry with academia. This strategic alliance of the research and industrial world of Greece was reinforced four years later, when the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece (FING) joined the partnership.
Between 1995 and 2008, PRAXI Network was nominated by the European Commission as one of Europe’s Innovation Relay Centers (IRC) acting therefore as one of the main Greek stakeholders in the field of technological innovation and cross-border technological cooperation. In parallel and since 1999, the General Secretariat for Research & Technology in Greece appoints PRAXI Network as the National Contact Point (NCP) for the 5th, 6th and 7th Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development and currently Horizon 2020, rendering it an official entity for information and advisory support for EU-funded research programmes.
Since 2008, PRAXI Network provides innovation and technology transfer services, initially as a member and currently as coordinator of the Greek consortium of the Enterprise Europe Network, the largest network of integrated business support to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Cytech has been active since 2001 in the field of software product development for telecommunications companies in Greece and abroad. From the first moment, its purpose was and is the development of innovative high quality services, in order to fully satisfy the needs of its customers. More specifically, it has developed platforms on which its customers can build mobile messaging, marketing and payments services. This activity has allowed it to have customers and partners in more than 10 countries around the world from Norway to Thailand and from Saudi Arabia to Colombia.
The main objects of activity, lies in the provision of services such as: Development of high-demand software platforms, development of software systems and tools, development of mobile applications, design - Support - Completion of software systems. Cytech is constantly striving to improve software development processes and practices so that it can quickly introduce new features to the market as well as integrate the needs of its customers directly into each new release. For this purpose, it has adopted methodologies such as Agile Software Development and has applied them not only in the development of our products but also in customer support.As a result, it is constantly close to the customer and develops software that meets the real needs of customers. The company is in fact a key contributor to Agile Crete, an alternative conference for the study of the above methodologies as well as its executives participating in the organization of the Agile Greece Summit of the largest relevant conference in the country.
